The New Moon marks the beginning of the cycle and the Full Moon is the release.
At the Full Moon, the energy is powerful and intense. This surge enables you to take action. This is a perfect time for releasing something that no longer serves you, or an aspect of yourself that you may have outgrown. You can use the creative, amplifying surge of energy present at this time to make way for new opportunities. Angry energy as well as loving energy will be amplified, so you can make the choice what you would like to intensify at this time. A full moon ritual or ceremony can be a potent way of letting go and stepping out of an old way of being so that you’re ready to embrace a new one. Or, if you’ve been putting something off all month, the full moon is an opportunity to get it done…and not have procrastination follow you into the new cycle.
Here’s some ideas for creating you own Full Moon ritual:
BURN THE BAD VIBES
We don’t mean set fire to your house (and please abide by fire bans!), but, fire has long been used as a ceremonial ritual. If you have space for an actual fire, great but if not, how about burning a candle or some incense.
CREATE SPACE IN YOUR SPACE
As well as clearing your mental space, the full moon offers the opportunity to clear your physical space and de-clutter. It’s also a good time to rearrange rooms and start afresh in your habitat.
CLEANSE YOUR QUARTZ
If you’re crystal-ly inclined, many people believe that the Full Moon can clear a crystal’s energy and recharge the positive energies it holds. To do this, the day before a full moon rinse your crystals under the tap and leave outside overnight to energetically cleanse them. In the morning, bring them inside and charge with new intentions for the new cycle. You can also use the power of crystals to cleanse your living space or aura.
It is said that during the Full Moon the body benefits the most from taking salt baths because it’s capacity for absorption of the minerals is heightened. Fill up your bath with Epsom salts, light some candles, play some music and relax.
SLEEP IN THE MOONLIGHT
If you can get out into nature, or even if you have a garden, sleeping in the moonlight means you are absorbing the full force of the moon’s energy. It’s the recipe for an amazing nights sleep too!
Letting go could mean letting go of eating habits that might not be making you feel so hot. Drink plenty of water during full moon time and boost your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables. If you want to completely detox your system, ready for the new luna cycle a juice cleanse can be a wonderful way to do so.
As we mentioned, any emotion is amplified at the full moon. Since the full moon pours down so much energy, meditating during this time creates extra calm, mindfulness and stillness.
